Tom Rich 

Tom Rich will become Deputy Minister in the Department Education of Nunavut as of April 1, 2001. 

He was appointed as Executive Director of the Program Branch of  the Nova Scotia Department of Education in 1994. Program Branch is responsible for  English Program Services; Student Services; Mi'kmaq and African Nova Scotian Services; Learning Resources and Technology; and the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development. Amongst his additional responsibilities was the Information Economy Initiative, Schools Component.

Tom served as President of the Canadian Education Association in 1995-96 and  of AMTEC during 1982-83. He has been active on many regional and national education committees through the Atlantic Provinces Education Foundation and the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada.  Prior to coming to Nova Scotia, he spent 19 years with the Prince Edward Island Department of Education. Tom has a Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Concordia University.
