Festival Information
The Association for Media and Technology in Education in Canada (AMTEC) is holding its Media Festival in conjunction with its next conference, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, June 3-6, 2001.
AMTEC will present a national showcase for educational media, recognizing outstanding examples of educational TV, film, interactive multimedia, and computer software as part of the AMTEC Conference.
AMTEC invites producers of instructional and informational media to submit entries in all five classifications of the Festival : school system; post-secondary institution; government organization; commercial/industry agency and student productions.
Awards are presented for the best video, film, slide, audio, multimedia, and computer software productions. The awards, as well as clips from winning productions, are presented at the Media Festival ceremonies.

CATEGORIES AND CLASSIFICATIONS
All entries should indicate a category, sub-category and classification from the following:
CATEGORIES:
Visual Media (Television/Video, Film, Slides)
Audio Media (Radio, Audio, books on tape)
Interactive (CD-ROM, Web Sites)
SUB-CATEGORIES:
Instructional: The primary purpose of a production in this sub-category is to assist in the instructional or educational process. Clarity in the presentation of its subject matter will be considered of paramount importance. Entries for this category must be accompanied by a complete explanation of the intent of the production and should include any support material or manuals.
Informational : A production intended to provide information to an audience. This production does not need to be instructional, but present material in order to transmit the spirit of the subject. Motivational and promotional productions would also fit in this category.
Other : A production that does not fit easily into any of the above categories may be considered in this category.
JUDGING
One award of excellence will be made in each category and classification. Judges may also grant certificates of merit . Other specialized awards may also be given.
Please note that the entry form requires entrants to identify their Target Audience and Goals and Objectives. Assessment will be based not only on production excellence, but also whether the entry meets its objectives in the view of the judges.
ENTRY FEES
There is an entry fee of $50.00 for each submission (GST is included). Student entry fee is $20.00 (GST is included). A cheque or money order in Canadian funds payable to AMTEC 2000 Media Festival must accompany each entry. A letter confirming receipt of your entry will be sent to you.
ELIGIBILITY
Productions entered in the Media Festival must have been completed after January 1, 2000.
NOTE: It is NOT necessary to be an AMTEC member to enter the Media Festival.
COPYRIGHT WAIVER
Submission of an entry to the Media Festival constitutes permission from the copyright holder for AMTEC 2001 and AMTEC to use short clips (usually 30 seconds or less) from the entry during the Media Festival, and in the promotion of AMTEC's award programs or conferences.
In addition, the entrant releases his/her production for viewing on demand by conference attendees during the Media Showcase at AMTEC 2001.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
An entry form must accompany each entry. Please ensure that all materials are clearly labeled.
Entries should be submitted in the following formats:
Television/Video, Film and Slides: NTSC VHS cassette
Radio/Audio: Audiocassette
Interactive Multimedia: CD-ROM
Web sites: URL, Floppy Disc or CD-ROM
Deadline for entries is Friday, April 20th, 2001 . Do not send Masters. AMTEC assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged material.
